Mihir Garimella: FlyBot
FlyBot — fruit-fly-inspired obstacle-dodging drone.

A kitchen full of fruit flies evading swats gave Garimella his model: very low-resolution but very fast vision. His palm-sized drone reacts to a looming obstacle by moving sideways then up, avoiding collisions without heavy computing, for search-and-rescue spaces people cannot enter. He won the 13–14 category and the first Computer Science Award at the Google Science Fair 2014.
