AI that tracks the pancreas in MRI during radiotherapy; later ICOR gene-optimisation tool.

The pancreas shifts between and during scans, which makes it hard to hit a tumour with radiation without hitting healthy tissue. Jain, from an Indian-American family in Oregon, trained a deep-learning model to find the organ in MRI images in real time. He won the 3M Young Scientist Challenge in 2018 and, in 2022, the US$50,000 Regeneron ISEF Young Scientist Award for a separate tool that optimises gene sequences for cheaper drug manufacturing; that second technology was reported to have been licensed to a biotech company.
