Areej Alqarni investigated a novel contact liquid for more energy-efficient, cost-effective cryogenic carbon capture. The project tackles the interface where gas treatment, low temperature and material choice determine whether a carbon-capture method can scale.

Innovation mindset: A large industrial problem may turn on one carefully chosen medium at the point where two phases meet.

Official project title: Novel Contact Liquid for Energy-Efficient, Cost-Effective, and Scalable Cryogenic Carbon Capture (Environmental Engineering).
