Luksina Isahaku developed an in-situ approach for locating and removing microplastics from riverbed sediment using laser-induced particle fluorescence. Sediment is a difficult but critical target because pollution can accumulate below the visible water surface.

Innovation mindset: When pollution disappears from view, change the sensing method rather than assuming the problem has disappeared.
