Adam Siddiqi and Vibhan Emmi studied the interaction of PETase expression and plant–microbe relationships in saltmarsh grass as a pathway for enhanced microplastic degradation. The project explores bioremediation as an ecological partnership rather than a single engineered organism.

Innovation mindset: Complex environmental problems may require an alliance of biological systems rather than one “super-organism.”
