Hieu Le and Quan Cao designed an autonomous wheelchair intended to support both mobility and communication for people living with ALS. Combining these needs matters because declining muscle control can affect movement and expression at the same time.

Innovation mindset: Do not divide a person’s connected daily challenges into isolated engineering problems; design an integrated path to independence.

Official project title: Autonomous Wheelchair for Mobility and Communication Assistance for ALS Patients (Robotics and Intelligent Machines).
