How long does design registration take?

Straightforward applications typically register within a few months, provided the representations are correct and no objection is raised. We give you an application number immediately on filing.

How long does the protection last?

Ten years from the date of registration, extendable by a further five years, giving up to fifteen years in total.

We have already launched the product. Is it too late?

Usually yes, because publication destroys novelty — but tell us the exact dates and where it appeared. There are narrow situations where options remain, and it costs nothing to check.

Do we need a separate filing for each variant?

Generally yes, one application per design per class. We file ranges as a family and tell you which variants are worth protecting rather than filing everything.

What if we only have a physical sample?

That is the Rs. 5,999 option. Send photographs or the sample and our designers produce filing-ready drawings from it.
